Privacy & Security
How does client-side processing work?
Client-side processing means all PDF operations happen in your web browser using JavaScript libraries like pdf-lib. Your files never leave your device, ensuring complete privacy.
Do I need to create an account?
No account needed! Simply upload your PDF and start removing watermarks immediately. No registration, no personal information required.
Is there a file size limit?
Yes, the maximum file size is 50MB per PDF. This ensures smooth performance in the browser.
Can I remove passwords from PDFs?
No, our tool focuses on watermark removal only. For password removal, you would need the authorized password first.
Are my files encrypted during processing?
No encryption is needed because files never leave your device. All processing happens locally in your browser's memory.
Do you use cookies?
We use essential cookies for functionality and analytics cookies to improve our service. You can manage preferences through our cookie consent banner.
Is my IP address logged?
We may log anonymized IP addresses for analytics purposes only. No personally identifiable information is associated with your PDF files.
Watermark Types
What types of watermarks can be removed?
Our tool can remove OCG layer watermarks (used by Adobe Acrobat and professional PDF tools) and annotation-type watermarks. Overall success rate is 40-50% depending on watermark type. Image watermarks and embedded watermarks are not supported in the free version.
Can it remove "CONFIDENTIAL" or "DRAFT" stamps?
Yes, if they are stored as OCG layers or annotations. Text-based watermarks like "CONFIDENTIAL", "DRAFT", "REVIEW", or "SAMPLE" have a 40-50% success rate when properly structured as layers or annotations.
Does it work with image watermarks?
Image watermarks (company logos, overlays) are not supported in the free browser-based version. These require server-side processing with advanced tools like PyMuPDF.
Can it remove watermarks from scanned PDFs?
Scanned PDFs have watermarks "flattened" into the image, making them impossible to remove without image processing. Our tool cannot remove watermarks from scanned or image-based PDFs.
What about background watermarks or patterns?
Background patterns and repeated watermarks can only be removed if they are stored as separate OCG layers. If they are embedded in the page content, they cannot be removed by the free version.
Can it remove diagonal text watermarks?
Only if they are stored as OCG layers or annotations. Diagonal text watermarks that are directly embedded in the page content cannot be removed.
Does it work with transparent watermarks?
Transparent watermarks can be removed if they are in OCG layers or annotations. Embedded transparent watermarks are not supported.

You must enter the password to unlock the PDF first before our tool can process it.
What JavaScript libraries are used?
We use pdf-lib for PDF manipulation and Canvas API for image processing. All processing happens in your browser.
Does this work with PDF forms?
Yes! Watermark removal preserves PDF forms and their data. The form functionality remains intact.
Can it handle PDFs with multiple pages?
Absolutely! Our tool processes all pages in your PDF automatically, regardless of page count.
Comparison
How does this compare to Adobe Acrobat?
Adobe Acrobat uses server-side processing with more advanced tools, supporting more watermark types. Our free browser-based tool supports OCG layer and annotation watermarks with 40-50% success rate, but is completely free and processes files locally for privacy.
Is this better than free online tools?
Most "free" tools upload your files to servers, compromising privacy. Our tool processes everything locally in your browser, offering superior privacy while being completely free, though with limited watermark type support.
What makes this tool different?
Key advantages: 100% free, no signup, client-side processing (privacy), batch support, works on all devices, no file limits. Limitations: Only supports OCG layer and annotation watermarks (40-50% success rate).
How does it compare to iLovePDF?
iLovePDF offers similar functionality but requires file uploads to their servers. Our tool is more private as everything happens locally, though with more limited watermark type support.
Is this better than desktop software?
Desktop software may offer more features and higher success rates but requires installation and payment. Our tool is instant, free, and requires no installation, with limitations on supported watermark types.
Can this replace paid watermark removal tools?
For simple OCG layer and annotation watermarks, yes! Our free tool handles these cases. For embedded image watermarks, complex Form XObjects, or flattened watermarks, paid tools with server-side processing are recommended.
Troubleshooting
The watermark is still visible after processing
Try running the tool multiple times - some watermarks have multiple layers. If that doesn't work, the watermark may be flattened into the document image.
Processing is taking too long
Large files or complex watermarks take longer. Try closing other browser tabs or processing smaller files separately.
File won't upload
Ensure the file is under 50MB and in PDF format. Some corrupted PDFs may not upload properly.
Download button not working
Check your browser's download settings. Some browsers block automatic downloads - adjust your settings if needed.
Tool not loading on mobile
Ensure you're using a modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox) and have JavaScript enabled.
